Oh they have taken so long and sometimes I have even wanted to throw them out the window but they ARE coming together. Little birdy paintings of oil on wood.

Bye for now

Everybody on the floor

Here is my most recent efforts in lino printing. Printing for me has always been done in big studios with lots of messy inks and chemicals. Whilst I have always LOVED doing printmaking like this I now don't have the space or time to put in such efforts. Teaching takes lots of time right now so I squeeze in the arty stuff as much as possible. So, in my little studio apartment, with my boyfriend on the couch and the TV going, I plonk myself on the tiles and make baby prints with baby rollers and Japanese hand burnishers. Works a treat.
Banksias and Australian flora have started moving into my field of reference only recently. As I get older I seem to have more respect for, connection with, and desire to record my immediate surroundings. I did stuff like this in high school so maybe being a teacher now has reignited this work. Who knows.

Hope you like it.

Five Faves

For the start of a new week, here are my five fave things (see Meet Me At Mikes)...

1. Vintage cameras.
I love collecting. I will collect anything. A bower bird from way back. In the last year or so it has been vintage cameras. Addicted. Pictures to come I promise.

2. Riding my pushie.
I love my push bike. A steal at $20 from a garage sale. I love going at top speed down steep hills although I hate getting back up the hill.

3. Making mini lino prints.
Again, pictures to come I promise.

4. Painting with oils.
Never thought I would be able to paint with oils but it is working out very well. Ok, cliche now but yes, pictures to come.

5. Reading the arts section of the Saturday paper. Keeps me up to date and oh so relaxing.

Won't you take me to a lomo town?

LOMO FUN...

Lucky me, sitting here with the boy scoffing mini Snickers, watching TV and blogging on a Saturday night after just being out for a Japanese dinner.

I have sadly not had the internet at home for a long time now and as a result I have been painting and reading and doing all sorts of delicious things. So, no bloggin' for me.

But I am cheering to now have the opportunity to once again get lost in the time vortex that is the internet.

Last year I saw 'Sculpture by the Sea' with my gorgeous cousin Grace. It has taken me this long to get my photos developed. I love Lomography but it really is an expensive hobby, particularly with 120 film,  so I am unable to go all mad and addictive with it. This, however, does nothing to explain the fact that I have recently been once again obsessed with extending my collection of vintage cameras which I will show you one day. For now though, some serious lomo fun...
